Yes, I know this is a really cool thread name...

Basically, this thread is for any kind of question you have about the Inspiron, Vostro or XPS series of notebooks. If you just have a broad, general question that needs to be answered fast, feel free to ask it here. Or, if you want to start some sort of discussion about them, feel free to do so as well.

    I'll start this thread off...

When I recently ordered my new 1420, I opted for the 2.2ghz Intel dual-core processor. Considering this is more powerful than my older 1.8ghz processor, will it eat more battery life, save more battery life, etc?

    oh right question

i dont think the power difference is substantial
and im pretty sure C2D is designed to consume a minimal amount of power

ill go research this a bit more

correct me if i am wrong but, i think that its not going to affect the battery life or performance, but it will warm up your machine stronger than slower processors.

Yes, both the 1.8 and 2.2 are core duos.

Well, I'm pretty sure it'll affect performance for the better. It's possible it'll decrease battery life by a small amount, but I'm not sure; (that's why I'm asking.) And yes, it probably will warm the computer a bit more.

    E4300 1.80 GHz 65 W 2MB (FSB 800)
    T7500 2.20 GHz 35 W 2x2MB

if that reads like it should
    and those are your processors
then your batter life should go up.

i don't know why they say that my EDD between 11-22 and 11-26, if they'll ship it on 11-19

i think it should be at my house on the same day as its gona be build or at least on the next one, because there is a huge Dell plant in my city

or they don't build machines on plants that more close to your delivery location ?

I'm not sure why the EDD is longer for you; several reasons can explain it, however:

The 1520 you ordered may be in higher demand right now than the 1420, and may take longer to build because of this.
The components you chose may also be in high demand, and in turn take longer to assemble.

all the special components I've choosen is XP Pro. everything else is very simple

You want to say they don't have enough XP Pro OS's DVDs or not enough people who could install XP Pro on a machine ?

I said the components are one possible explanation.
The other explanation is that, like I said above, the 1520 is in higher demand than the 1420. More people are buying the 1520 right now, so Dell has more orders for the 1520 to fill, hence longer waiting times.
    Does that make sense?

yeah. it makes a perfect sense

    @ LucidBurner

charge them interest like credit companies do. 25% a year for 2 months. I say they have to credit your account at least 4% of the price that you've paid

I've placed an order On 10 Nov 2007 at 00:22:51

and you propably placed in the morning or noon or at night, which means that I've placed mine long long time before you did.

And I WANT my lappy NOW

    @ LucidBurner

yeah. $250.00 off is about 4% off the total price.

I was right. Looks like Dell's customer services department give exactly 4% to customers' first time complains. I think that's their guidelines. For second time complains from the same customer on the same order refund goes to like 10%. Call them again and get not $250.00 but $650.00 refunded . lol

that's strange (about order page) especially considering that you have placed an order on Friday and its show as it was placed on Saturday

look at the Dell's Confirmation e-mail as it has exact time when you have placed the order

It might be showing up as November 10 because 11:45 PM your time might be 1:45 PM theirs.

(Does anyone have a picture of the high resolution 1440x900 screen compared with the standard, non-high resolution screen? Preferably, pictures that this website's home page, google.com and the vista/xp desktop. Thanks)
