    Inspiron e1505 Dark Band on Left Side of LCD, What is the Cause?

    Hi all,

    Well my inspiron e1505 now has a dark band on the left hand side of the lcd. I swapped in my old motherboard thinking it was the Dell replacement I got sent but my old motherboard is showing the same band after about 30 minutes of being on.

    Is the the LCD monitor going bad of the the light inverter I read about? The band is makes the left hand side of the screen look darker. It is especially noticeable in photoshop when the background is show grey.

    Well after some testing this weekend I found the problem to be a bad LCD inverter. I changed the LCD's inverter which is located at the bottom portion of the display and the problem has gone away. So for all those out there if your display starts to get dark on the left hand side about an inch or so wide after the laptop being on for over 20 minutes, it will most likely be a bad inverter. :D

    I have same problem, darkness on right side of the dell widescreen. Don't know what the "inverter is". Something you had to buy? I'm still under warrantee, so guess should call DELL.
