    Hi all,
I just found this site and signed up. Looks like some good info here. I have a couple of questions if you all don't mind.
I just bought a gently used e1505 from a friend at work. He just got a Macbook Pro.
The laptop seems to be working great so far. I am replacing my tower at home with this and am trying to figure a couple things out.
    1. I have pair of Boston speakers with a sub that I used with my tower. I remember that in the audio settings, there was a box to tic for "Digital Output" and I had to tick that box to get the speakers to work. I cannot find that box on the e1505 and I cannot get the speakers to works by just plugging them in. What am I doing wrong here?
    2. The laptop had the ATI Radion Mobility x1400 video card. What Catalyst drivers and suite should I be using?
    Thanks for your help!

    Ron

The answer to #2 depends on what operating system you are using, as does that of #1.

    This page: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
should help you find the answer to #2.

As far as the speakers are concerned, go into control panel, sound, and ensure that the default device is set to sigmatelaudio, as I believe its called. if that doesn't work, make sure it hasn't been muted not just in the volume icon in the tray but by checking the wave setting in the volume control.

Just a bump hoping for more input. I did check the plug on the speakers that plugs into the laptop. It has one ONE ring around it, where I think most headphone plugs have two. BTW, headphones work just fine in the laptop as well as the internal speakers.

    Thanks, Ron

Those speaker wires have to be plugged in to some intermediary, usually a subwoofer or something of the sort. How would you connect them anyway? There's only one headphone port, so I'd expect that you'd only be able to connect one speaker.

Thanks karan1003, for your reply, but I think that you have misunderstood the question :). I have used this speaker system for a couple of years now on my tower pc. This plug that I am talking about plugged into the the Sound Blaster Audigy sound card in my tower. In order to use the speaker system though with my other pc, I had to tick a box in the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" area, in the Control Panel. The box that I ticked was for "Digital Output", so I am guessing that these speakers may need a digital signal to work and I am not sure that my e1505 can provide that. That is what I am trying to figure out for sure.

    Thanks, Ron
