My laptop won't turn on. Every time I push the power button the first light on the left will stay on, while the 2nd two will be flashing. The wifi and bluetooth do nothing. This occurs with battery power only, ac adapter power only, and the battery with the ac adapter plugged in. This goes on for about a minute, then the laptop turns off. Please refer to bottom picture for the lights I am speaking about.

What is wrong with my laptop?

    Click the 6th link down.

You should try unplugging it, take out the battery, and hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Then try turning it on.

Failing the above, try reseating the memory.

Also take out the memory and try a new piece, the memory thats in the laptop could have gone bad.

After holding down the power button for 30 seconds, should I plug in the battery and the ac adapter and turn it on while still holding the power button?

After 30 seconds let go of the power button and put the battery back in and plug it in. Then turn it on.

I know this thread is old....but my dell e1505 is doing the exact same thing as the original posters. I'm just wondering if anyone has any solutions or an idea of what the problem is. The power button trick did not work.

Sorry for the super late update. I hope my situation helps the next lad who stumbles upon such a horror.

I managed to get my hands on the laptop (have been away from home for quite a long time). What I did was remove one memory stick and turn on the laptop. The first run still resulted in the blinking lights, but to my delight, the second turn on proved successful.

One of my memory sticks went bad. Such a simple problem. Time to look for a replacement.
