    Hey everyone,

Long time listener, first time caller.

Anyway, we've got a problem with our Inspiron E1705. The keyboard is dropping strokes (keystrokes register about 50% of the time). In addition, the touchpad is a bit finicky. I'm not sure if the two problems are related or not. I've checked the keyboard connections, and everything seems OK.

I'm not sure if a keyboard replacement would do the job since the touchpad is on the fritz. I've received advice that either the motherboard could need replacement, or that a controller on the motherboard might need replacement. The computer is about 2.5years old, and has some other issues, so I'm not replacing a motherboard.

Just looking for some advice on whether I should bother trying a replacement keyboard or just get a new laptop.

    Any advice is welcome!

    Thanks,
    Chris

Try using an external keyboard. If that also shows same problems then the problem may be with the motherboard.
