The cursor jumping back and forth is a touchpad that is too sensitive. You can adjust that in Mouse portion in Control Panel. However the display going off if you remove the mouse pad is strange, it probably isn't related and your screen probably is defective. Best to get that RMA'd to Dell or visit a local ASP repair shop for Dell.

    Hi,

Please login to the BIOS page and check if the display issue occurs in BIOS as well. If the BIOS options are displayed without any display interruption, this is most likely to be an issue with the Windows operating system. You may back up all your important data and consider setting the system to the factory defaults (PC – Restore).

Please find below, the link for the Dell Support web page for information about PC restore. You may refer to the same.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks and regards,

run the build in diagnostic test

turn on (or restart) your computer.
When the DELL. ™ logo appears, press F12 immediately. Select Diagnostics from the boot menu and press <Enter>. This may invoke the Pre-Boot System Assessment (PSA) on your computer.

otherwise download the big diagnostic test fro DELL/support and burn it on a CD disc and reboot with it.

start with that and see what answer you get.
