Next month I'll be working in England for nearly a year and will need to bring my trusty Dell Inspiron notebook with me from California. Does anyone have an idea if I can buy a different battery or charger to use while I'm there, surely I'll need something a little more substantial than a travel plug?!

I looked at the European site and the model numbers seem to be different too.

i would check out http://www.kensington.com/. You'll have to buy a special adapater and a smartip to fit your machine. It is a bit expensive, but I don't know of any other way.

I got my Dell from the U.S. and I was afraid I need a converter to use with 220V here (the U.S. is on 110V for reasons uncomprehensible to me), but it is clearly written on my AC adapter that input can range between 100-240V, so only adapter plug for sticking it to the wall was needed.
I wouldn't think you need a different battery alltogether.

yes, the brick has a variable rating up to 240. all you need is an adapter for the plug to fit into the wall.

i bought a plug adapter kit from radio shack for a trip to Hong Kong that cost me less than 20 bux.
