    Hi all,

Just recieved my 1720 this week and looking to upgrade from 2gb ram. Don't want to buy a matching modules and put 4Gb on the machine if i can help it. An upgrade to 3Gb will be fine by buying a single 2Gb stick, leaving the existing 1gb in place.

My question is: Will i notice a difference with the ram being unmatched? I will be buying the same brand and speed (Kingston). I use Photoshop & Fireworks alot.

    Cheers

    Kris

No you wont notice the difference, dual channel's difference is actually very small.

Cheers m8. I didn't have a clue how much difference DDR made. Would it be a different story if running 64bit windows?

Another quick Q, Does the Readyboost feature make an impact on anything? I used a 2Gb flash card and tried it with a game & photoshop etc and noticed no change to response times. Just a gimic?!

Well with 64bit, windows will regconise the full 4GBof ram. But really 3GB should be more than enough. Readyboost is for low end computers with lack on ram. So really it wouldn't make a difference to you.
