Please list the model of your Inspiron, the amount of discount you got off of the normal retail price and the place where your laptop was built and whether it has been reliable/durable so far without any abuse.

    Thanks!!!

Dell XPS M140. Paid $700 at the time (4 months ago) it was selling for $1400 for the configuration that I got. It was built in Malaysia but Refurbished possibly in the US, not sure. I purchased it through Dell outlet. So far it has been very reliable. Can't really say how durable it is because I take good care of my notebook and don't abuse it. So far it has held up great though ;)

Inspiron 6000, bought in Singapore mid 2005. I paid about US $1175. Yes, it was built in Malaysia(made in malaysia). Works very well till now and found no problem whatsoever, just some light leakage at the bottom screen. I dont know why i6000 sold in the US is so cheap :)

Can't remember the price but I purchased it in august of 2002 it was built in malaysia. So far the only thing I've had go wrong was a hard drive failure that took place within the first year of ownership and they were very helpful and quick about replacing it.

Inspiron E1505, Made in Malasya. The real cost of it was $1691 without shipping or taxes. I got for $1500. I live in Panama City, Central america. So we don't have any coupons :(

So far, It has a better quality than the ones bought in US, I guess they need to make sure the system is working fine prior to sending it out of the US.

Looking at the box doesn't tell anything! The bottom of my 700m displays "MADE IN MALAYSIA" while my 700m box has a sticker that displays "COMPUTER MADE IN CHINA." So how do you know from it then???

But I have read somewhere in this forum that says that about 95% of Dell laptops are assembled in Malaysia while the rest are assembled in Ireland (for Europe market) & China. :)

For a well known fact, the name of the place it was built is on the box.

My XPS was made in Malaysia, same place as my 8600.

A majority of Dell computers come from Malasyia, then china, and then Ireland, and so on

edit: recieved mine just 3 weeks ago (April 7th)
