    Hi there
I was wondering if you guys could answer 3 questions about your experience with this laptop. I would very much appreciate your comments

    1. How is the battery life?

    2. How is the external heat (ie: Do you feel any uncomfortable heat on the surface of the laptop?)

    3. Overall opinion with owning this laptop thus far

If you guys could give give any answers to these I would be so thankful
    Thank you

1.) Depending I have the 6 cell and on minimal brightness and internet I get about 4 hours. With the 9 cell you should get an easy 6 hours

2.) Not that much heat if you use i8kfan

3.) Love it. Light leakage is alright but after a while you get used to it.

    Reps would be nice.

I have the 9 cell battery I get about 6:30 hours.

The palm rests get a little warm if ur doing intensive tasks like playing games, but I dont really notice it.

Laptop is a little thick but overall im very happy with it

-- I have 6 and 9 cell batteries. 6 Cell depending on what I am doing, brightness of the monitor, etc. I get between 4 and 6 hours. ( cell would be 6-9.
--I don't usually feel in uncomfortable heat, but I came from a Compaq R3000Z that could cook your legs and arms at the same time.
--Overall I really like. perfect size for me, not to big or small. Extremely quiet as well. I NEVER hear it. Seems to be built well enough to take back and forth from work every day, so overall I do recommend it.

Not to derail the thread, but is the battery life of the E1405 pretty similar to the E1505, or is there a big difference due to a larger screen and dedicated graphics card?

In answer to the original question of this thread:

    1. The battery life is good, easily 2-3 hours on max brightness and wifi enabled.

    2. The notebook gets a bit warm when doing more intensive stuff but I wouldn't describe it as being hot, just a bit warm on the palm rests. Heat does tend to build up on the bottom(though I have mine on a desk most of the time so it might not be the case if its on a lap.

    3. This is a great machine if you want something that's small but not too small. The only negative thing about this machine is the lack of a dedicated graphics card. It kinda makes me mad that Dell doesn't put a dedicated GPU in the E1405 and that they keep advertising it as the cheap budget pc when it isn't.

Wow, thanks for all your comments and reviews about this laptop.
Sounds great. If I am getting this toy, it will be with the 6 cell. Just gotta wait for the right deal to come around on the Dell Canada website. Why cant we have great deals like the U.S. haha
I would very much appreciate more comments and reviews so that I can make a good judgement
    Thanks again

    1. Battery life is excellent. I dont think I've gotten under 3 hours of battery life out of it.

    2. Heat is not a problem at all. I have i8kfangui setup so the fan kicks on at 41C and cools it back down to under 40C. So when doing pretty much anything but games it stays at 41C or under.

    3. I would give it a 9/10 for the money. I paid $640 for mine. If you have more money then I would look at something that has better build quality (D620, W3J, Dv2000)

Thanks for all the great reviews about the E1405.
If there was one thing that you could complain or find a con about this notebook what would it be? Is there something you just totally dislike about this comp that it bothers you every time you use it?
    Thank you

Does the 9-cell battery stick out that much?

I don't really have any compliants. It does what I need it to do.

Secondly, the 9 Cell doesn't really stick out that far -- maybe 1/2 inch. When I have it in, it doesn't affect it usability either on a desktop or on the lap. I think the scren, when tilted back actually extends past where the 9 cell would be anyway, unless you keep your screen at a 90d angle.

^^^ Yup, exactly right. If you rotate the flash animation, that is the 9 Cell battery. The 6 cell battery sits flush with the back.
