    is it possible to install 4GB DDR3 ram on studio 1555 ?

    No. Your laptop accepts either DDR2 or DDR3, not either or.

    In the case of the 1555, it uses DDR2.

    Yep, that's pretty much it. There is no way to ever get DDR3 memory in a Studio 1555.
