Hi, first post here but I've been lurking a while to do research on laptops.
I bought a Dell Studio 1735 last week and instantly hated the way it was configured (I'm very fussy about how my computers are set up) so thought I'd take the opportunity to upgrade it from 32-bit Vista Home Premium to 64-bit Vista Ultimate to get full access to the 4GB of RAM I put in it and so far most of it works but I noticed there doesn't seem to be a 64-bit version of Quickset for it which although isn't the end of the world I'd quite like to use the wifi catcher so am trying to find a way to get it installed, is it a case of just using another model's version? I'd normally just install them randomly and see but I've been getting blue screens of death installing SQL 2005 Developer on it so would rather not add to the equation before I get that on and running correctly especially as I still have a lot of stuff on it to configure before I can use it for work so I've taken the lazy option and decided to ask here if anyone knows how to get it to work or even if it's possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I did exactly the same as you for my studio 1535. The Dell quick set software should be on a CD that came with your laptop as far as I can remember.... Have you checked there?

I just assumed everything that came with the laptop was for thee 32-bit OS, are you saying the 32-bit Quickset works fine? I figured there'd be some kind of driver issue or something.

Ah, my mistake, my memory fails me yet again! I just downloaded all of the drviers for 64 bit vista from dells site that I could get my hands on and installed them all.

I don't remember specifically if there was one for the quickse or not, but it must have been in thre somewhere as I seem to have it!

I installed x64 Vista Business and I can not get the network adapter to take any drivers. Can you please let me know which driver you used so I can try and get that working?

I can't remember as I simply searched Dell's site for 64 bit drivers, found the page with ALL of them and downloaded every single one (not even checking what each one was for) on to a usb memory stick and then installing them all one by one after I loaded 64 bit vista home premium.

    check out http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?&~ck=gp&ServiceTag=&SystemID=

find the page for your model, then the 64bit drivers, and find the one for the wireless card. If by saying it 'does not take an drivers' you mean that the driver for the wireless card does not install, then I'm afraid I don't really have the technical knowledge to help you out. Try searching the forums and if you still have no luck, it's best to create a new post so that others with more knowledge than me can help you out :)

It is not the wireless, it is actually the RJ-45 network adapter. Unfortunately I have downloaded every single driver, but none specifically say it is for that network adapter and none of them have loaded a driver for it. I was going to try a manual .inf install as soon as anyone could point out which which driver it is. So far no one on the board has been able to answer this question in other threads.

I guess I need to get a hold of Dell one day. Thanks though.

I ended up installing the studio 15 Quickset after realising that the 32-bit Quickset is for studio 15 and 17 so figured they'd be the same. Alas my wifi catcher doesn't work (Flashes 3 times then nothing, bought an Inspiron at the same time as this and the wifi catcher works fine for that in the same locations so it's not a wifi configuration problem), but looking at other threads here that may be a whole seperate issue.
