Well I reformatted and went to go install the drivers and was kinda confused. I started with the chipset and made my way down the list. Now everything is messed up and Ive installed a plethora of different things that were both checked and unchecked. My main problem right now is I cant install the wireless drivers for AGB, but Bluetooth is fine. I also cant install my 7900gs. For both the devices, I recieve the error message device not found. What did I do and what do I have to do to fix this?

    :( Thanks

Well buddy , we have the same issue here ;)
to solve that you simply had to dowload all the driver from dell site ,
    I know its suck :(
about the wi-fi , the driver fron dell cd is for the 2200bg not 3945abg
    so its kinda outdated ;)

Make sure you download the correct drivers. I have seen many people download the wrong drivers and screw up the laptop

Please check out the format guide (link in sig). It gives you a list of driver categories, and tells you which are mandatory and which are optional.

You probably should download all of the drivers that pertain to your system even if you've already installed them from a disc. The reason is because the disc is outdated (as pointed out) and your drivers will not be current.

I'll tell you the ones that I installed...

Dell Quickset - I've got the M1710, so it's needed for the LEDs. If you want the power management, install it. It's not needed though.

SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio - You need this for your sound card to function properly. Whether you have the Audigy Advanced package or not.

Intel Mobile Chipset - Support for the Intel chipset, definitely a must.

Ricoh Media Card Drive - Needed for full support for all of the Media Cards that the E1705 reader is compatible with.

Conextant Modem Driver - If you want your modem to work, or simply not show up as a yellow exclamation point in Driver Manager, install this.

Synaptics Touchpad - Needed for full functionality of the touchpad and it's features.

Broadcom Ethernet - Driver for the 10/100 Ethernet Port.

Intel 3945 ABG Wireless - Needed for your wireless card to work (assuming it is the 3945 card that you have).

Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth - I don't have bluetooth, but this is what you need for it.

Notebook System Software - I don't know what it does in all honesty, but I've always installed it anyways. I think it's just made to make peripherals work smoother with your system such as Docks, storage, and input devices.

nVidia 7900 GS Video card driver for your card. It's the newest one Dell has come out with. There are other places for newer cards, but this is the one I use because it is the only one that I can find that turns the LCD off when you close the screen.

That should be all you need. As far as order, I've always installed the chipset and system software first, then the video card; then followed that by all the rest of the stuff. I've also done it so that I just installed the wireless card first so then I can download all of the rest and didn't need to have them on a disk.

Hope that helps you out a bit.

Well, just want to add something but I don't want to create another topic. I hope the OP doesnt mind me hijacking his thread but after reading this I decided I should go take a look at the driver section for my 9300 and guess what? It has been updated!! So far, I've seen drivers for graphics, wireless adapter, chipset and audio being updated in either April or June this year. I just thought I would let know users that have discontinued laptops like mine that drivers are still being revised.
