    Hello All,

This is my first post ever. I have done some research regarding this but cannot find a clear answer. Is it possible to install WIN XP on the DELL 1710 even it is not a DELL back up or DELL OS disk, ie, a retail purchased XP that has nothing to do with dell? Or will the DELL specific BIOS not allow foreign installations of OS's? I currently have Vista Premium from dell. While the OS runs smoothly, my 3dMark 06 score was 929. Rather embarressing. I have NVidia drivers 98.09, at least I think?

Also can I install the driver package from laptopvideo2go with DELL computer?

DXdiag says I have x10 but I want x9. Does it work well with Vista?

    I hope this is clear.

    Thanks

    P

You will have no problems installing a Retail or OEM version of XP assuming you have the appropriate license key to enter.

Do you mean that DXDiag says you have DirectX 10, but you want DirectX 9? If you have DirectX 10, you've still got full access to the DirectX 9 API, plus the DirectX 10 enhancements. Vista allows you to use the DirectX 10 API in software that supports it, but you will be using DirectX 9 in XP, as it does not support DX10.

As for the LaptopVideo2Go.com driver, it should work fine, regardless of your computer. That's the whole point behind it.
