    Installing memory...

    In the manual it says remove battery and hard drive. Removing the battery is simple enough but, do I really need to remove the hard drive prior to installing the memory? I don't see the point.

    if both slots are located under the laptop there should be no need to.

    No you don't have to remove the HDD before installing RAM. The instructions for removing the HDD is simply so that you'll have more room to work with.
