I have brought a new dell studio 1435 laptop and they provided me with default windows vista home premiun OS.
I have installed windows XP professional OS after changing the BIOS settings for onboard devices (In BIOS:
Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module -> Set Off
Onboard Devices -> SATA Operation -> Set ATA)
Can i will be able to install the windows vista OS after installing windows Xp with the same BIOS settings for onboard devices (In BIOS:
Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module -> Set Off
Onboard Devices -> SATA Operation -> Set ATA)
OR i have to make changes in the BIOS settings for onboard devices (In BIOS:
Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module -> Set ON
Onboard Devices -> SATA Operation -> Set AHCI)
Please provide me with some suggestion.

You can have the same settings in BIOS for XP and Vista. When you set on the Flash Cache Module (not needed when you don't have Intel Turbo Memory module - Robson installed) and SATA Operation set to AHCI, you need to install the SATA drivers during the installation of Vista, you can copy them to USB drive and install them from there and when Vista is installed you have to install the drivers for Flash Cache Module - Intel Turbo Memory (if you have it installed on your laptop). There may be some performance decrease when you run Vista without AHCI and Turbo Memory, but nothing remarkable, so decide what is easier for you

Vista should install fine in either SATA mode without any drivers, but performance will probably be a little better in AHCI mode... so I would set it to that before installing.
As for Flash Cache... either way, but I would leave it off unless you actually have one. If you have a flash cache module then you can turn it on. -
Yeah yeah, Vista has some drivers for SATA, but it's older and (not sure about this) it's something like "generic" drivers for every type of SATA controller. If you install Intel's driver for SATA (AHCI) you should get better performance
