Hey guys, I'm wondering which one you guys would / did choose with your new Inspirons.

Do you think the integrated sound blaster will even sound better? Or will it just put on more weight? Post your thoughts.

so i don't think it'd sound any better if it's just software. they probably just do some tweaks here or there in the programming...but you shouldn't notice a significant change in sound quality.

if you really want sound quality, get an external sound card that plugs into the Express slot or works by USB. you can check out Icemat Siberia soundcard...a pretty good external sound card...but it's expensive.

I think usually sound card upgrades are worthless, because you won't hear a significant difference unless you have some really nice speakers plugged into the computer.

From my 1520 order e-mail confirmation: Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™HD Software Edition

From my understanding it is as derviskemal mentioned, slightly different chip w/ software to active it.

Well i personally dont understand it seeing as how your laptop speakers are probably crap and you wont hear the difference at all.

Unless you have a nice big speaker system then its useless.

i'd be weary of getting creative solution because of the problems b/n its drivers and vista. I'd wait out until creative comes out with vista-native solution and get that...
