Hi all, this question will seem elementary to some, but here goes. My replacement system is now in boxing which i'm pretty happy about. Anyways, I paid for a T8300 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, but I checked my dell order on their website today which lists all of the parts in my order and I noticed that it says:

1 310-9348 Intel Centrino Core Duo Processor

Anyone know what that's all about? I didn't pay for a core duo processor, I paid for a core 2 duo processor. Is this the same thing or what? Someone fill me in please!

If you get the Intel wireless card instead of the Dell wireless card, they call it a Centrino.

Actually I did do a "simple" google search and did not find the answer. But thanks for not adding to the discussion.

I would kindly suggest you then learn how to use a search engine... Because a google search on 'intel centrino' returns this page as the first hit...

I get that "google" has seemingly every answer out there, but why blame the OP for coming to a laptop message board and asking a question in the correct sub forum concerning a popular laptop on this site. If you don't like the question, just ignore it.

And his question has been answered before. Repeat posts on the same subject only contribute to needlesly growing a site with no benefits whatsoever. Instead we end up with bloated sites where the search engines have issues and causes slow down.

Do you need any more reason for using a search engine?

As others have mentioned, Centrino is a technology, not a processor. Centrino is a combination of Intel technologies, one of which is integrated wifi.

Cool, I didn't know that. Thanks for the response. As for the other guy about how the question has been answered - how are we supposed to find previously answered questions if the search function is down for this forum? Though I'm sure the webmaster of notebookreview appreciates you for hasseling people who ask previously posted questions, lol.

You are right. A new member of the board should not ask a logical, straight forward question within the appropriate subforum. Rather, we should save that precious space for all of those meaningful "what do you think of my laptop" or "I'm so excited my laptop is being made" posts

Do you really need to be a jerk about it? Like someone said above, if you don't like the question, ignore it.

From your own admission you google this and could not find the information. yet a simple search on 'intel centrino' fetched the info.

Don't look for excuses, you started a thread on a subject that you could have found the answer if you had tried.
