Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Are you sure your laptop doesn't have a switch to turn off the wireless?
-
it does but the switch doesn't work

There's a possibility that the card has failed. It's rare, but I've seen it happen...
-
how can I check this?
-
You'll need to swap the card out with a working card from another laptop.
If you don't have one available, you might want to reinstall Windows before purchasing a replacement WLAN card. Since you mentioned something about restoring or repairing Windows, it's quite possibly just a software issue. -
swapping card is out of the question atm.
just spent a week trying to fix the system so I'm not ready to reinstall windows
if it's a software issue, it surely can be verified by some program?
also windows shows that the card is ok so how can it be broken? should be some warning at least... ? -
Device Manager just identifies the device, that's all. Sometimes devices don't show up there for hardware or software issues, and just because it shows up, doesn't necessarily mean it's working either.
-
surely, there has to be a way to check it via some software - any ideas?
-
I don't know if the diagnostics will test the card, but even if it does, it doesn't necessarily rule out anything. If you've got a spare HDD, you can reinstall Windows on the spare drive.

reinstalling PROSet software fixed the problem
thx for trying anyway
