Why 5300 is not available for Studio 1737? The options listed are Intel®WiFi Link 5100

Currently available options for wireless are:
    Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card
    Intel®WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card

Is there any reason you need the 5300 over the 5100? Both support N, the 5300 just is 'Ultimate N'.

If you REALLY want the 5300, they're all over Ebay (and other sites) for about $40 or so. Dell has the drivers available because it's an option on the Latitude E-series and most Precision models.

    Hi Niemitz,

Sorry, I can't post URLs yet, so you'll have to fix the ones below by changing the asterisks to dots. In response to your post on my thread (forum*notebookreview*com/showthread.php?t=315919). Here is Intel's product page for the 5300 and 5100, which includes links to PDF spec sheets:

    www*intel*com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/adapters/5000/

I noticed that the 5100 was the only option on the US site. As you know, I've had some trouble getting the 5300 on the UK site, even though it has been listed for some 3 weeks or so now. They finally seem to be allowing customers to configure with the 5300, so I can only assume that the same option will be coming to the US soon.

As far as I can tell, the main difference between the 5100 and 5300 is the number of antennas. I'm hoping the 5300 will give me better range and signal strength. Of course a lot will depend on the router you're using, and what grade of 'N' it is - but I'm trying to be as future-proof as possible with my purchase ;)
