    Hi All

Just bought a N wireless card for my XPS 1530 "Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN" and installed it this morning with the three antenna's.

However after installing all the new drivers I can't connect to my D-Link DSL-2740B at N speeds. The max I get is 56mps.

I have another laptop that connects at N speeds using the supplied D-Link dongle so I know it does work.

The Intel site seems to suggest that WPA-TKIP might restrict speed so I tried WPA 2 AES but then I can't connect at all (with the Intel card or D-Link Dongle)

Has anyone replaced there wireless card and had this same problem?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Cheers

    Marc

if all yur systems are runnin wireless N cards, try to set yur router to transmit in N-mode only.

Thanks for that - i didn't think about doing that as I occasionally do connect other devices.

However tried it and neither laptops would connect at all.

However I think there may be a conflict as I now seem to be able to connect either laptop to the router an N speeds, but not both at the same time.

I also tried emailing Dlink and all they have come back saying is do a factory reset - great like that solves everything. Oh and they said its Draft N so conflicts are expected - great. lol

You shouldnt have to set to N only to connect to N speeds. Have you checked to make sure you connected your Wifi card properly? Also just two important things about 4965AGN:

    1. 801.11n mode will not work unless you disable security entirely or use AES encryption. This means all your wireless devices must support AES with WPA-PSK. Or no security at all.

    2. Supposedly, the 4965AGN will work with Wireless-N access points that have the "Connect with Intel Centrino" label. There are not many Wireless-N access points carrying that label on retailers shelves, and of course Intel does not provide a list of compatible access points either (thanks for nothing).

    Hope it helps!

First off. Make sure 802.11n is enabled in the drivers (sometimes its disabled by default). also make sure that 40hz channels are on.
