Internal Speakers broken E1505

My e1505's internal speakers seem to be broken. Audio plays out the headphone jack, but when nothin is plugged into the headphone jack the internal speakers dont work

 

I managed to fix it, there was some setting in Volume Control's advanced settings that muted the internal speakers that I unchecked

 

Hey what did you check, my aunt has the same problem and i went into advanced settings and unchecked spdif interface and the PC spk Mute box was unchecked already but still no luck, wondering if you dug any deeper than that or if she truely has a busted speaker. Thanks alot.

 

Does she have an E1505?

 

Forgive me for double posting, but I took a screenshot of my volume control configuration that made my internal speakers work again.

 

ya, but i have it set that way, looks like she actually has a bad speaker, thanks though.

 

i have the same problem as that guy, my internal speakers used to work, then i started useing external ones, and now they stopped working. The box in the volume settings is also off. any help please? im gonna try reinstall the drivers

try resintalling the drivers, but what i did there in the volume control panel is what made my internal speakers work again

I still can't get mine to work, though by the responses to this topic, this must not be a very big problem for most people. I really don't think my speakers could be broken, i only got my laptop a few months ago and even then i hardly ever used my internal speakers. I just had them working a week ago too. Well i guess i'll just wait till someone who knows how to fix this problem has their speakers malfunction too. If anyone has some information it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

edit: i reinstalled the sigmatel high definition audio codec driver, but there are other audio devices in my device mamager, perhaps those need new drivers? lets see, there is one called "audio codecs", "legacy audio drivers", "legacy video capture devices" "media control devices" "sigmatel high definition audio codec" and "video codecs". are any of theese relates, and if so, where might i get drivers for them.

Same issue with me... I reformated my E1505 and was able to install the sounds drivers. There is a sound when I plugged in an earphone jack but intenal speakers does not work.

 

Just found this old thread via google. I have the same problem. I have a Dell E1505 running XP. The headphone jack works but the internal computer speakers do not. Here's what I know:

(1) it's not the speakers. I've swapped an identical set of working speakers.
(2) it doesn't appear to be a software or driver problem. My settings look identical to those of another E1505, and I have tried re-installing drivers several times.
(3) The MB is not fried. HOWEVER, the jacks themselves are soldered onto the MB. A metal piece inside one of the jacks, the one into which I plug my headphones, seems to be permanently pressed into the side of the open cylinder into which I insert the phones. Now, when you insert headphones, the speakers automatically turn off. Is it possible that my (our) problem is that the MB is fooled into thinking that headphones are always plugged in, due to the metal having flattened within the jack? (I hope that made sense.) If so, is there any way to replace the headphone jack without replacing the MB? It seems like it's a non-removable piece of the MB. I have no experience soldering computer hardware.
