Hi everyone. After much deliberation (and patience!), I finally made my purchase of a Latitude D830 (versus the D820) last week and I had it shipped to my cousin in order to save costs (she's flying home in July and she offered to bring it over for me; the other reason is that quotes for a similarly configured system here cost around 300USD more than if I had purchased it in the US).
When I spoke to the Dell USA CSR over the phone last week, he told me the International Warranty (which included accidental damage) would be honored in my country so long as I fill out and submit the International Transfer of Ownership. So I purchased the 4-year Complete Care Package with International Warranty. Now here's the thing. Dell Malaysia called me up the other day, asking me if I had decided on my purchase of the D820 I had quoted from the local distributors. I told her I had already placed my order in the US, and that I was just going to transfer my ownership so I could avail of the international warranty. She then told me that International Warranty was limited, and that of my package, only parts would be covered. I would still have to pay for labor and services. Now that doesn't seem very fair, considering the premium I paid to specifically extend my coverage. Is what she said true? If so, would it still be possible to cancel my extended warrant(ies), seeing as I'll still be paying for the services?

I find Dell CSR's confused or lacking consistency from my own experience.
Have them fax or email you a copy of the warranty to make sure.
I really don't have any knowledge about their extended warranties(US or otherwise) since I only opt for the cheapest(free) that comes with the laptop. IMO, the amount of $$$ for complete care/extended warranty is not worth it. The unit would be 'old' by the time the free warranty expires. My Dell laptops are past the warranty period but working perfectly. The ones I've taken to the Phil last year - Dell,Acer,Toshiba,Compaq - are, as far as I know, have no problems. -
Here' s what I know:
I had a boss who had a toshiba and was able to get warranty support for his laptop.
My officemate have apple macbooks bought from that states and the warranties were recognized here.
International Warranty... how much of it is usable in the Philippines?
