    Hi,
I'm thinking about inspiron 1501 15.4" with turion tl52 and 6 cell battery. All other specifications are quite common... 3 year warranty and price attracts me very much.

    The questions are:
    1. Vertical/horizontal viewing angles. How good are they? Maybe somebody could share images of their laptops?
    2. Is the battery life really good?
    3. Is the build quality reasonable? How about scratches?

I'm still thinking about HP NX7300 (t5500, everything quite the same), but what scares me most is the LCD quality and 1 year warranty...

You can upgrade the warranty on the HP. Most laptop screens do offer good viewing angles.

Warranty upgrade is quite too expensive. I'd go with 1505 or nice toshiba in that case...

I think the HP will offer better quality.

Yes, I am thinking the same. Anyway, price difference is really obvous. HP has only 1 year warranty and 512 DDR and is almost 45$ more expensive and, since price is a concern, dell is my favourite. Well, I am waiting a few days and buying it from a local dealer.

Oh, I have just noticed- 1501 has no 802.11a support. Is this a concern?

I wouldn't be concerned. A networks are pretty rare.

I disagree, my friend has had lots of problems with his HP laptops. I would recommend the E1505 over the 1501 unless youre really looking for a basic equipped system

Here, in Lithuania, we have either a very good offer for 1501 or a very bad for 1505

I could pay 1100$ (and get a 27% rebate) for 1501 with turion tl52, 1 gb ram, 120gb hdd, 3yr warranty and vista home premium.
Or I could pay 1450$ (and get a 27% rebate) for 1505 with t2050 and everything else the same.

This makes quite a difference, especially because I don't need the additional speed of Intel CPU. (My current desktop athlon64 3000+ is even a bit slower than TL52, but still it's much more than I need) I am not very keen on paying 250$ for several multimedia buttons...

Tomorrow I am going to the dealer and have a look at both PCs if it's possible. I don't expect much of the design and build quality of 1501, but since it's a great bargain, I think, I will be able to live with that. There's a huge difference between 3 year and 1 year warranty when we are talking about laptops...

The warranty extension for hp nx7300 costs way too much... It would make hp almost more expensive than 1505...
