My Vostro laptop took 8 hours to get from Nevada to Chehalis Washington which is good time but 30 hours to get from Chehalis to Bothell Washington (from the time it left Chehalis excluding processing time). That works out to 2.8 miles per hour or an average walking pace. I won't get the laptop on the delivery date  and would prefer that DHL use something faster than a walking human. Maybe they can upgrade to a mule or something.

DHL is consistently poor. Poor customer service, poor delivery times, poor liars, and poor prices given all the problems. Again, I iterate my hate for that company.

    I feel your pain.

nothing but bad experiences with them for me as well. Sometimes when i'm at the gas station, paying my dues, i'll see one of their trucks roll up, the dude will go in, and sit down with a cup of coffee. They're worse than the sterotypical cop.

They most probably are trying to save fuel, by waiting for a couple of parcels that go on a similar route before loading them to the next city, then the parcels that need to go further are loaded on another delivery van to the next city etc... to take the least amounts of trips needed.

But then again, if they are paid for next day / within 3 business days or whatever, then they should do to it properly!

I feel ya. AT&T shipped my iPhone via DHL - it was a 2-day service, but it took 4 days to get here. My laptop was overnighted, but it took them 2 days to deliver. Bastards.

DVD...my experience is getting better, with a lower MPH.

4/8/2008 12:10 am Processed at DHL Location. Salt Lake City Regional Hub, UT
4/7/2008 11:53 pm In transit. Salt Lake City Regional Hub, UT
10:49 am Shipment arrived at incorrect facility. Sent to correct destination. West Valley City, UT
2:51 am Arrived at DHL facility. West Valley City, UT
4/6/2008 4:28 pm Depart Facility Wilmington, OH

West valley and Salt lake City are...get this...9 miles apart. Transit time was 13 hours. MPH = 0.70. Yours were hand carried...mine was strapped to the back of a turtle.

Remember folks...my package is on the west coast also...I live on the east coast with the origination out of Nashville, TN. I could have driven to the factory and picked it up and been home in the tiem it took them to get from OH to Salt lake city with my "Express" package.

Is it just DHL's attitude towards non Company business? Don't they realize that some of us control the shipping options where we work? They don't seem to care about my 100 dollars worth of business but what about the 10K that they won't get from my company once I remove them from the approved vendor list? Probably not....they won't be in business long if there is a God.

UPDATE: DHL has placed my computer on a truck from Utah. Why do you put an express package on a truck? The feeling I got from the DHL representative was "oh well, it was late anyway". They expect it to arrive on Thursday...maybe. So overnight delivery with it shipped at midnight on the 4th means sometime in the next 7 to 10 days.

Wow I think with DHL it's all about location. In Canton, MI DHL has better service than both UPS and FEDEX. I have never had a problem with DHL and actually prefer it over DHL and UPS becuase I usually get my packages a day or two before the scheduled date. Also with Fedex and UPS I get my packages after 4pm. With DHL, every package gets to me by 11 am or noon. Guess i'm lucky =)

Viper...UPS and FedEx have more packages to deliver. DHL might only have three or four and still don't get to you till 11 a.m. Maybe I am just being a jackass about things but the whole experience has been dismal.

That is true, but I'm just saying most people don't get their packages on the scheduled date. Or the driver just leaves a note on the door without even trying to deliver the package and I haven't ever had a problem like that with DHL. I actually have a package that dell shipped today. Let's see when I get that.

I'm jumping on the DHL hate bandwagon because of my experiences with not one, but TWO consecutive botched laptop deliveries. First, they gave my laptop to the wrong person (someone ELSE in my apartment signed for it    ), second time ... they didn't try to get into my apartment and just left with my package. I had to drive so far and delay my plans to drive to Vegas to get the laptop on the same day. I hate DHL, when you order over the phone, REQUEST FEDEX OR UPS.

    Agent,
I tried to get UPS/FedEx for the replacement and they said they made shipping decisions at the time of shipment and can't pre-select.
DHL admits to me they lost the package but told Dell they wanted a couple of days to find it so Dell will not process the replacement until DHL finally admits that they don't have a clue. I talked to DHL 4 times yesterday and each time they admitted they lost it but when Dell calls they hem and haw.
I sure hope this computer is worth the aggravation.

Might as well ask Dell if they'd rather you speak with your CC company!

That sucks, man, I hope you get your laptop ASAP and maybe upgrades to make up for that hassle. Dell needs to understand that your time is valuable and that time IS money that they will lose if they don't insure your satisfaction. If anything, I think Dell should ship a replacement ASAP and IF DHL finds your original laptop-- to ship it back to Dell. That seems more logical to me so either way, your wait time is as short as possible. Keep us updated.

Yeah I got the Vostro I ordered. I can say the delivery guy was very lean. Probably from all that exercise. It would really tick me off if it was just plain lost as opposed to just late.

    Hello all.....the computer made it.

I went and picked it up at DHL last night and didn't have a chance to play with it until now.

Ok, it was worth the hassle although I will not trust DHL with any of my shipping needs. If you have problems talk to a manager is my best advice. The people answering the phones really don't have a clue.
