Hi i want to upgrade my ram for my inspiron 6400, but dell only offers a DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz ( PC2-5300 ), but the inspiron 1525 carrys a 800 MHz ( PC2-6400 )....so i am wondering can i use the inspiron 1525 ram for my insprion 6400 or will that not work? they both have a SO DIMM 200-pin...

It will work, the Inspiron 6400 will clock the memory down to 667MHz.

Hep is right. The inspiron 6400 has a maximum memory capacity of 4Gb Pc5300 memory.
The PC6400 memory will work in your inspiron 6400, however the memory will clock down to PC5300 speeds
