I just talked to the Dell Rep and told them about my problem of not getting my laptop for school.
I called the 1800 number about two days ago, only to find out that I was in the boxing stage. I celebrated, jumped around, you name it. But that also just increased my antsy-ness of getting my laptop.
So I've been in boxing for about two days, and decided to talk to a Dell Rep. The Dell rep told me that my package was not in boxing stage, but still in Build mode. Which do I believe? I think the Dell Rep was from India, so maybe he got his Build mode confused with In Production (which means that my package actually could be in Boxing mode)
I got a Free Overnight Shipping added on top of that, and am trying to get more out of it also. Any suggestions and anyone know who I should trust more?
Thanks a lot!

Personally, I wouldn't believe anything Dell told no matter what the medium was -- website, person, email, telegraph, or smoke signals.

Some have said that "boxing" can take weeks.. so he could be right, or it might show up tomorrow. I'm starting to think they change the 1-800 autoresponder on a whim just to make us feel better.
-
Man Spliner. I am in the same exact boat as you. Same date of order, processing system, build stage, AND boxing stage. Let's keep each other updated on how it goes! I'm usually calling bi-hourly.
-
Well, the good news is that the build stage and the boxing stage are in the exact same building.
What probably happened is that it's done with the building stage and it's waiting to be boxed and then palletized. -
Well.. I'm starting to wonder if they don't have different "versions" of the boxing stage.. what if our laptops are still sitting in malaysia waiting on a flat tire on a jet lol!
Lets just keep our fingers crossed that they ship tomorrow!
PS: What was your ESD Chrono? -
It's 9/4 - 9/7
-
I've only been in boxing since 1AM monday morning and i keep checking I really hope it ships yet tonight some how cuz i just have standard shipping and want it this week it'll kill me if i have to wait til monday
-
Same here .. ship 9/7 for ESD. I was all ready to wait for it until they told me it was in boxing.. lol it better ship soon!
I noticed on my order they added Creative Earbuds for free.. with my luck it's sitting in it's box waiting for a shipment of those from Japan! -
8:20A this morning.. "This order is currently in the boxing stage".. still ;(

Plane crash? Maybe on the way from Malaysia it ran into that tropical storm in Hawaii, and theres a lone survivor with a laptop named wilson
-
just to let you guys know, i was in boxing for four days before they shipped my laptop.
-
Yea I'm not getting my hopes up. I generally have bad luck with these things, so it'll likely be at least four full days before they either ship or toss me back into the production/build stage again. My ESD isn't for quite a while, and it seems they are covering their a$$es fairly well with the estimates these days. I have a laptop and two desktops at the moment so I am not hurting in the slightest. I just hate to spend over $1100 and not have anything to show for it a few days later.
The only real aggrivating thing is that the order went into boxing very quickly which suggests that it will be shipped quite early. That is what got me started watching the updates daily. My old laptop goes to its new buyer this weekend, so I will be without one after Friday, but I will survive with my classes til it shows up. My greatest worry is an actual delay past 9/7 or a cancellation of my order all together. From what I have read (other than the crappy color of the keyboard/internal color scheme), the Dell is the best I can get for the money I spent. I don't want to go with another brand. -
Keep in mind what spliner said.
THEN it's flown to the USA and sent by parcel service to your eager paws! So ya. besides parts delays, boxing usually takes the longest. depends how long. Usually 2-3 days since they wait for a full planes worth of pallets before they charter a plane. -
Looks like the website updated to "Shipped" about 3PM today, this was my 4th day of boxing. I see more and more "4 day" boxing times than not, so I'd say it's pretty much the norm unless, like we all suspected, there is something holding up a shipment.
PS: Chrono... you should check yours, mine updated to shipped around 3pm CST! -
So I probably have one more day in boxing before I ship...That means I won't get til Monday
that SUCKS!!
-
Just checked (internet is down at my house =( currently at a friend's house) and I got Spliner's PM! Man...hopefully this next day shipping will work that I got from the Dell Chat service.
Is Dell Online Rep right or is Dell 1800 right?
