I know Dell is redesigning the Inspirion notebooks which btw look awesome but i'm wondering if anyone has information on the Latitudes?

I noticed that the D520 is dirt cheap like $549. This notebook even though is based on the Celeron M processor is perfect for surfing the net and iTunes. The C2D version (T5500) is $649. I'm tempted in getting one of these.

they already released their santa rosa platform latitudes....so i sincerely doubt that there is anything in the works for a new chassis.

Thanks for the quick reply. Btw should I pull the trigger on the T5500 or stay with the Celeron M based on my needs? Also does the Latitude D520 come with the cool looking Black and Silver case?

I'd get the Core 2 Duo if you plan to keep your laptop longer.

The Latitude design are quite OK.

After all, a biz laptop dont need fancy design.

It is similar to any biz laptop like the HP or Lenova.

The new Dell Latitude D531 has a $649 model that I think is a better deal. Comes standard with a three year warranty as oppose to one year for the D520.

The dual core Turion 64 X2 TL-50 is slower than the C2D T5500, but if you were willing to get Celeron M performance won't be an issue. And if your gonna do any light gaming, the integrated X1270 will perform much better than the GMA950.

You'll also get more screen resolution because it's widescreen (WXGA vs XGA), and the D531 can accept a larger capacity 9-cell main battery.

No, Dell is coming out with LED Screen Notebooks and they look very sweet. You would have thought they were designed by Apple they look that good. I remember seeing a picture of them but I can't find them anymore.

Thanks for the tip. What's the disadvantage in going with the mobile AMD package?...heat?, performance loss? How does it compare to the C2D T5500?
