I was wondering if I can retrofit the bluetooth module from my Inspiron 6000 onto the inspiron 1520?

Looking at dell's website, the 1520 uses the truemobile 355 vs the 350 for the Inspiron 6000.

    Depends...

If it is a PCI Express module I'm going to assume you can just hook it up... There could be issues if the antennas don't fit though...

no its an internal chip module that plugs into the side of the battery compartment on the 6000. The 1520 seems to have this but I don't want to open it up if its not compatible.

Ah right just looked at the service manual and it has a seperate Bluetooth replacement section which is under the keyboard. I thought the PAN connection in the Wireless Cards section was for Bluetooth, but I guess not.

The only thing i can recommend you do is prop it open and see ;)

Yes, you can. I just installed my 6000's TrueMobile 350 into my Inspiron 1520 and it worked perfectly! One warning though -- be very careful NOT to bend the pins when installing the TM350! They're very tiny and fragile.
    ;) :D
