if you read my later posting i said that the bulk of people stating the pricing error/glitch reasoning came from slickdeals. and just like on here, there were those on there that said they had insider info and gave that reason. i am simply going off what they said since there were numerous people stating that reason, that's all. i just joined this forum today and up until i read this thread, i was unaware of all this new info. and like i said, what i find funny is how worked up people get at the fact their orders were canceled when they were never eligible to begin with.

Sirius--
The dude's saying things that have been said on the board already...
Thus, he has provided proof albeit heresay. If you say your proof is absolute, then that means that the burden is proof is on you. Claiming because someone cannot, with absolute certainty, provide concrete proof of a claim they make implies that their claim is invalid is itself an invalid statement...
Since you have proof, then just.. provide it. It's not something to get angry over. -
He might not want to post the proof and run the risk of his 10 orders getting canceled
-
He does not have proof. He's clearly restating things said by people who don't know what they're talking about and had no proof to begin with. My absolute proof is valid, but I really don't care to share it because the only way to validate my proof is to have personal information which I do not care to share. I've purchased plenty of things from Dell to know how extreme they are in their pricing spectrum. What an average person would pay $2000 for, some where hidden in their site is a way to pay $1000.
I was going to give you the number to my account manager who would validate the drake deal, but I don't want to burden him with calls from people to validate something that doesn't need to be validated with anything more than common sense.
But common sense obviously isn't too common. -
While your logic is 100% correct, I've found that trying this sort of thing online is usually met with, "Oh yeah? Well you still can't prove what you said, so I don't have to prove mine." It's, unfortunately, pointless.
It's nice to see that someone else has a bit of fallacy training, though. -
Hey, look at the pretty tree. Tweet, tweet, tweet goes the birdy.

Huh? What the hell are you tal...... ooooooh a butterfly! :twitcy:

Not worth it.

As a complete bystander (without any university deal) - it looks to me as if Dell offered a good deal to the Drake students based on a certain configuration. One way that Dell could make that offer was by charging less of a markup than they usually do for processor and hard disk upgrade etc.
I suspect that it was never intended that these orders could be downgraded but that some people found they could call up and get the sales reps to downgrade them (e.g. 2GB RAM to 1GB) and decrement the price by the large mark-up equivalent to the difference in price to normal customers.
I think it could be described as a mistake if this downgrading was allowed by the Dell reps.
OK - so you can all shoot now. -
*shooting Nalada* Why don't you let this thread die! So you die instead!
Is Dell delaying Drake Orders Deliberately?
