Is Dell ever going to put the 8800 in the 1720 series?

Dell has always been the bargain for high end gaming solutions for low costs in their 9300 and 9400 series.

However, they crippled the 1720 replacement with a garbage graphic solution.

I went from a 9300 with a 6800 Go, to a 9400 with a 7900 GS, so obviously I want the next step to be a 1720 with an 8800. It doesn't seem like it wants to happen.

    :(

no, they don't want it to compete with the 1730.

I don't think it has sufficient cooling for an 8800

They could do it, but they choose not to and would rather force the customer to pay more for the 1730.

I don't see what other choice you have for a cheap desktop replacement. HP doesn't offer a budget 8800, neither does apple.

Sorry ThatDaveGuy, but if you want a 8800 in your lappy, you either buy a cheaper Gateway or a $2500 Alienware/Sager/Clevo.

    And the 8600M GT isn't garbage. It's mid-high.

Still slightly less powerful than the one in XPS M1530 since it uses slower DDR2 memory. Unfortunately that is the artifcial market segmentation Dell uses...

Well it's still much slower than my 7900 GS which is nearly two years old!

I have been looking for them to put the 8800 gts in a 1720 for a while.

    I think they will

I cant believe the 1720 sells well
