I have a Vostro 1400 and I tried to look for the MD partition but could not find one (many have said it is a 10GB partition). so I finally found a folder named MD it in the OS partition(configured my Dell with sparate OS partition when I bought it). There is about 1GB of data in it. Is this the MD program folder?

I am going to format of my OS partition and then install a fresh copy of Vista HP OS on it. My question is If after the format I install the MD first using the MD 3.3 CD and then the VHP DVD will it get me to the pretty much same config as before minus the any bloatware I may have right now?

    Thx for feedback.

MD is a 2-3Gb partition on your drive and also contained within your OS directories.

Control panel/Admin Options/Computer management/disk management and its seen there.

    Ill post a pik.

Is there a way to disable that button. I have removed all partitions on my hard drive, yet that button still turns on the laptop and attempts to read from the media direct partition, which doesn't exist. When shutting down and turning on the laptop in a normal fashion, it will continue to try to find that partition, the only solution I have found from that point on is to format again.

There are a few threads where people have been trying to map the button for another use; you will have to search the thread.

If mediadirect isn't there the button just boots the next fist available partition

    thx flamenko!
I will check as I don't think I saw this partition. I will post similar pic from my laptop tonite.
So if I completely format my OS partition and install the MD first using the MD 3.3 CD and then the OS from VHP DVD will it get me to the pretty much same config as before minus any bloatware I may have right now?
