So I'm expecting my XPS M1330 which shipped today. In the past I remember posts where there was a way to tell which display came with your laptop by going somewhere deep in device manager or with some downloaded program to find the part #. Am I off base or is there a way to see it?

You go device manager > monitors > details tab > hardware IDs in the pulldown menu to find out which display you got. If you ordered the LED backlit M1330, you will end up with a device that has "CMO" in the hardware ID for the Chi Mei Optoelectronics panel or "LCD" in the hardware ID for the Toshiba panel.
