Hello, Potential C90S owner here. Very NEWBIE and not computer literate at all!! So please go easy.

I was just wondering if this was a good deal and a good desktop replacement?

    Dell XPS 1330-$1,440
    2.0ghz Core 2 Duo
    4gb RAM (self-upgraded, stock 2gb)
    200gb 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar HDD (self-upgraded, stock 120gb 5400rpm)
    Nvidia 8400 128mb gfx card
    13.3" LED screen w/ webcam
    BT built in
    802.11n
    Fingerprint reader
    9-cell battery
    DVD Burner
    Windows Vista Home Premium
Dell warranty and Complete Care through August of 2012 (another 4.5 years)
    TWO 65w AC adapters
    Dell Sleevecase

    We are considering this:

Asus C90S $1,200 plus paypal shipping and fees
    15.4" WSXGA+ 1680x1050
    512MB Geforce 8600M GT
2.66GHZ E6700 which is able to Overclock to 2.93ghz 1173mhz FSB via asus turbogear software
    250GB Western Digital Scorpio SATA
    3GB DDR2 667mhz
    Bluetooth/Wireless 4965 ABGN
    One 6 cell battery
    Windows XP Professional installed
3 Year With Accidental damage and a 3 yr 0 dead pixel warranty - an extra $500 expires: 07/2010!!!!
the 3 year warranty is from btotech (fantastic reputation) and i will include the purchase receipt and the warranty will be transfered upon sale

The laptop runs perfectly and does not crash or have any of the problems related to the other c90s.

We're mostly use it for writing letters and the ocassional pretty invitation, excel spreadsheets, websurfing and ordering stuff, photo storage (download quite a few photos--we might try to buy extra storage though) and making our own home DVDs. We do not game (although my husband is a wannabe at that.)

    Thank you!

Your ASUS is way better for a DTR, but i prefer XPS M1330 as a notebook :)

hmm, well the c90 is not what you would expect from a notebook - resourceful !
since the c90 is built with desktop parts, the battery life of this "notebook" is not good at all.
as a desktop replacement it´s ok, but when i´m looking at what you intend to do with the notebook, the xps 1330 is more than enough for what you expect from your computer.
