    Hi all,

I'm looking at purchasing a new Dell Inspiron E1420 Laptop. I mainly need it for basic internet browsing, e-mail, etc. as well as word processing. I'm a college student.

    SYSTEM COLOR Midnight Blue
    PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5450 (1.66GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Edition
    DISPLAY Anti-glare, widescreen 14.1 inch display (1280x800)
VIDEO CARD Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
MEMORY FREE! 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
HARD DRIVE FREE! 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
OPTICAL DRIVE CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive)
    WIRELESS NETWORKING Intel® 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card
BLUETOOTH OPTIONS Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)
    INTEGRATED WEBCAM No Camera
BATTERY OPTIONS 56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0
WARRANTY AND SERVICE 1Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor,24x7 Phone Support

Just wondering if that processor will be quick enough to run Vista Premium (AERO) smoothly.
Also is this a good deal for $919.73 w/ taxes & shipping?
Any other deals out there? I used the $250 off student discount and 4% off discount

    Thanks,
    Nick

also i priced out a E1520 and it comes to 863.43 w/ the same exact specs.

I could save money and get the bigger one but I think I think I like the smaller size.

if you envision yourself bringing the laptop to classes and study sessions then you will not want to be toting around a 15" laptop. trust me, i got outta college not too long ago now and no one wants to carry around a 15". i suggest the 14" or if you have the funds, go with the new 13" XPS.

Yea I'm going to go with the 14inch even though i will not be bringing the laptop to class...I'm a sophmore and nobody brought laptops to class during freshman year. Is that a good price? Is there better discounts out there?

that is probably as low as you are going to be able to get it. and with current build times and estimated delivery dates being what they are, i wouldn't waste any more time. of course your other alternatives are to go with a Toshiba, Sony, HP, whatever, but by doing that you will prob pay more for the same config you have posted above. as for running Aero, the CPU is fine for that, your main concern for Aero is the GPU. and the X3100 from what i have read is adequate enough for Aero.
