    Is a delay imminant?

    Hi,

    I ordered a M1710 on the 28th of May (to take advantage of over £350 saving) and I was hopeing it would turn up within a week or so (as all my previous Dell machines have done), but they gave me a EDD of 2nd of July! Well I wasn't very happy with that, but I stuck with it because in that time I had weddings (my own included!), work and other things that took my time up. Anyway, now that is all over and done with and the EDD is getting closer and closer.

    I have been checking the website status tracking page for the past few weeks and it has been in 'pre-production' for about 4 weeks now so I contacted the Dell Customer Service via email every other day for a week to see what they say. They have all replied that it is in production and that the status page isn't working correctly and my EDD is still July the 2nd.

    Anyway, after reading some of the other posts on this forum I am getting little worried that there might be a delay last minute. Main reason for this (apart from wanting to get my hand on my new laptop of course!) is that I will have to take a day off work for the delivery and it is getting a bit tight to cancel/reschedule my day off!

    Does anyone have and advice/recent experiance with this laptop in the UK?

    Tell me about it. I ordered 6/3, and my original shipping date is 6/27 - that's TOMORROW. When I call up the order status line, the cheery android girl informs me that I am, predictably, still in the "build" stage.

    We're gettin' delayed, folks.

    Yep, been delayed until the 22nd! I think I will call up and try and get something free, either that or I will cancel the order and get a 1730.

    Cancelled my order and ordered a M1530 instead... which is already in packing after 24 hours!
