lol i cant believe this thread has gone on for 6 pages. if you cant see the bubbles and realize its protective film that you can remove you are blind.

I am still wondering how you were able to actually turn the laptop on and beable to navigate to this website and even make a forum post under the proper forum.

It's gone on for 6 pages because we have geniuses that don't (or can't) read, and reply telling me to do things I've already done. I can't believe that everyone except me is all upset about it and some have resorted to insults and name calling over it.

I already said in the original post that I thought it was a piece of plastic covering the logo. It wasn't until I tried to peel it off that I realized that it was not a piece of plastic covering. I see the bubbles, but that still doesn't change the fact that it is not a piece of plastic film. And that is the last time I will say it. I'm done with this thread.

If you see the bubbles, then why can't you understand that it's a piece of plastic that you're seeing the bubbles through? The Dell logo's on each hinge are metal disks which are stuck on....on each of them is a plastic film to protect them. PERIOD!

If your so sure it's not a plastic covering why do you keep getting pissed at people for telling you it is? It's like your haveing an online tamtrum.

You can even see the plastic sticking out past the metal dell logo on the edges on the first pics...this is ridiculous.

I think this thread needs to be closed because you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink it.

You guys are mean today. Lol. I also think it's plastic. But what if it isn't? At the thread starter, get a video camera and record an attempt at removing the plastic/scratch with your finger please.

jimnms, May I suggest getting a steak knife and scratching at the edges? It could really be stuck on there? If that doesn't work then it's probably faulty manufacturing and looks like crap air bubbles build into the damn thing!

comeon guys hes already said for 6 pages it wont come off :) dell just started to use new shiney silver logos with what APPEARS to be bubbles and clear film ontop of it.

but what we don't know is they actually found this thread and are laughing at us that we havent figured out that infact its just a new plastic they developed.

Two things to try: Thumbtack (pointy end), and some sort of organic solvent like acetone or hexane. Although those might dissolve a bit more than you want.

Jimns, ya gotta step back and have some fun w/this.

Look at what u'v done -- written something that has inspired more than 60 people to offer, for free mind you, their observations and advice.

I've written threads here that get totally ignored! Well done my friend!
But remember, we're at a disadvantage--we may not be seeing what u
have first-hand, directly in front you. By the way, at last count this
thread is close to 70. awesome!

ok i just recieved mine and i have the same thing, what i did was using a spatula placed 2grams of nitrogylcerine on it and then set it alight and the temp melted the plastic, perfect now.

By the way nitroglycerine can be purchases from any hardware store.

Sorry for making fun of you
