Is gaming even possible with...say, the e1505 base graphics card?

i'm not a gamer but in the future i could see myself checking out a few games. my question is, is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (running off of a core 2 duo 2.0 processor) even capable of playing mid-modern games?

    Thanks

It may be possible to load and get them going, but getting even playable frame rates on modern games, even at the lowest settings will be difficult. If you want to be able to game on the 1505 then get the X1400, its the best card avalable for that notebook, and it can play all modern games. I have the 7400, which is about equal with the X1400 and I can top out BF2 and HL2 easily. The X1400 is capable of the same thing, actually a little better.

    Get the X1400. I can play BF2, BF2 SF, Madden 07, Half Life 2, GTR-2 etc., all medium-high settings.

BF2/SF, HL2/Lost Coast/EP1, topped out with HDR for me. 35+ FPS.

Hrmm, i kind of doubt that but whatever floats your boat. The X1400 is a little better than the 7400 and i have a hard time imagining that you have textures and lighting and terrain etc. maxed out with 35fps.

Believe what you want bud, but when I ran the stress test on Lost Coast, it was @ 1280x800, everything on high, reflect world, color correction, HDR, no AA or AF. It averaged at 31.99 FPS. Now in HL2 I can get around 45FPS with everything, just no HDR since its not supported. You may not be able to do it because you have a slower processor than I, less RAM, and a slower/smaller and denser HDD.

seriously, the X1400 is a small boost in price for a large boost in power!

HL2 i can see, a ****ty computer can run HL2, it doesn't require much graphics wise. But BF2 maxed out with HDR getting 35fps is a pretty ridiculous claim for a stock 7400. Processor speed doesn't differ much, and considering that BF2 stresses memory/GPU more than anything else - that's not even a factor. Also just so you know, HD speed has nothing to do with gaming performance once the level is loaded.
