I just found out that there's an event abroad that I'm going to be attending for a week (final week of Sept) and so I will not have the luxury of waiting out for the 1730 reviews to see if it's good enough.
I'm a bit vain so I am not frikkin travelling with an old 4:3 vaio.
I need a new lappy ASAP and I was thinking I might as well get the 1710 now and save all the hassle of getting a cheap lappy and a powerful lappy later on. Plus, the cheaper laptops from Dell have this god-awful "up to 6 weeks" delivery time (I cannot recall which models)
It's going to be about £1500 for the 1710 itself plus the max 4 year warranty = £1800.
I'm not even sure how much the new 1730 will outperform the 1710. How much will Dual SLI 8700 beat (if at all) a 7950 GTX? No 8800 then?
The week after this unforseen event, I should just be going back to UNI (probably regretting not waiting)
Although...can't I just return it after that week? lol, and then see if I can order the 1730 in OCT?
The only thing I really like (oddly) about the new 1730 is the look....
Soz for this stupid thread.

First off, the M1710 is just fine for now and will be for another 18 months (give or take).
Second, the 1730 isn't slated to be released until 9/21. Even then, good luck getting it before christmas with all the delays.
Lastly, the 1730 is going to run you well over 2000 pounds....
I love my M1710 and I don't even have the 7950! -
Thanks for that post. I feel much better now about getting the 1710.
Now if only this will get delivered on time.
Previously they said 7-10 days but only with t7600.
Is it a stupid decision to pay for a £1500 1710 (+300warranty) instead of waiting for the 1730?
