I have one and temps on my CPU are around 45-50 idle after a hour, just surfing the web!...... Dell are coming out today to fix and all but am wondering if its a problem I am always going to have as the vents are tiny to exhausting all the air

I dont see a option in the bios for being able to control the fans speeds so I can increas the airflow, any tips or ideas? maybe a cooling pad?

    Thanks so much!

45-50 on idle is pretty normal (not just on dell laptops). reaching 85-90 on load is where it can get a bit scary.

if it still bothers you a repaste on the cpu/gpu with a good aftermarket thermal compound like arctic silver or IC Diamond 7 would lower those temps.

I have the 1558 (1 year old now) and it is on a decent cooling pad 24/7 on low setting. When I am generally using it the temp is between 35 and 42c and when I am running heavy-duty apps like Mcafee, FSX, or other games, the temp never goes above 65. Don't worry unless your temp starts reaching the 70's and 80's. If that happens, you can clear out the dust in the cooling vents/fan, buy a cooling pad, change locations, or change the thermal compound on the processor.
