The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

I mean damn.Their one of the largest computer manufactures in the US and it looks like they got a 3 year to set up their forum.
You can never find ANYTHING that you looked at the day before(have to book mark EVERYTHING)
Newest post are always first.WHY? Half the time I can never load the first page of a thread there for some unknown reason.

Its so dam confusing to use.Its SLOW as molasses in the north pole ALL the time.

    Id rather have root canal

Sorry I had to say something somewhere

    NBR is great BTW :D

It does suck. On the right side click expand user panel. Then at the bottom left select edit profile. Select site options tab and change the sort posts to descending.

You can subscribe to forums but NOT to topics inside a forum which makes no sense. Bookmarking is the only way I've found to keep up with a topic unless you want to be emailed every reply to the topic. I use that for the main problem I'm following. Which is the random lockups and throttling issue.

The forums are there so that Dell can claim they are an open and responsive company. They limit the functionality of the forums so that they serve the prior purpose in image only, or so my theory goes :D

Yes, but then you miss the one good part of the forums. They have Dell employees that monitor and post. We've gotten some good help with the issues on the 1747.

It ain't Delltalk anymore...when I bought my first computer in 2000 (a Dell Dimenesion 4100) I basically taught myself how to use Windows with LOTS of help from the great boards at what was then called Delltalk. I haven't needed it since then, but started looking at them recently for pre-purchasing info. I was amazed at what a sad shell of it's former self it's become. I guess Dell figures there are so many other forums that have Dell section that it wasn't worth spending much on it.

They are the least intuitive and useless forums that I've ever attempted to use! The categories are either too narrowly focused OR so vague that they're essentially useless. Searches return an overwhelming volume of results, with the only relevant ones being buried anywhere from 10 to 132 pages deep...beyond the point where frustration wins and I give up! The ability to filter search results is non-existent, too.

The entire experience is an exercise in frustration even for long-time Dell customers who would promote the brand and help users with problems!!! I can't imagine how it must feel for those who go there seeking answers and/or help of any kind??? :(
