I purchased my laptop in October and got it with a 3 yr warranty. Can I call and say I'd like it to be a 1 yr instead, or can I not do this?

I don't know but my guess is not I don't think dell is going to give you your money back companies don't like to do that.
I'm sure they will let you have a one year warrenty if you tell them they can keep your money though. =p -
You might have been able to within the first 30 days, but your purchase date is WELL beyond that timeframe. Not going to happen.

If you are within your 30 days, you will have to return the laptop and get a new one to remove it. But since you are not, you are out of luck.

I bet that if you follow the directions in this thread, you'd have a good chance of getting some money back:

On my invoice, the 4th year warranty was listed at $189. -
it can be done but i think it all depends on how lucky you are with the csr. btw, i prefer to talk to the indian csr - nice and more willing to help. good luck
Is it possible to downgrade from a 3 yr to 1 yr warranty?
