I know it was never an option but I am unsure if the XPS line offers this feature. If I can do it what is required?

I don't think it is possible. Some manufacturers offer dedicated second bays for a hard disk, whereas some give it as an option in the optical drive bay. I think neithr is the case with the E1705/XPS. If you need to extra storage sace, purchase an enclosure and install a 2.5" hard drive in there. It is smaller than an external drive. Hope this helps.

Ok, since that seems a no go a couple of questions:

    1) What is the biggest size 7200 RPM notebook harddrive?

2)I have 4 GB of space that is on its own partition after I formatted. I assume this space is there because there was the Mediadirect partition in between this and the recovery partition (where the 4 GB came from). How can I merge that into my other main partition?

How do I use Gparted live to combine a partition? I have only poked around with linux a little bit (although it was another livecd however that was the knoppix version of linux). Is it easy to use?
