I've got a good deal for a 8gb DDR4 2133mhz and my Dell already has one stick but with 2400mhz.

Question is: can I overclock the cheaper slower chip to match the original one? (if so, how?)
Is it a bad idea to mix the speeds?

    Thanks in advance.

Sadly you won't be able to overclock the cheaper slower ram. The good news is that it should run just fine as it will downclock your 2400mhz ram to run at the slower speed. In all reality having 2133mhz vs 2400mhz won't make as much of a difference as having dual channel and the extra ram.

I don't think you can do much with RAM on those models, sorry.

Noticed that the chips were very different, but they work just fine on 2133mhz.

Odd that it shows single channel memory. I don't recall checking my 7577 to see if it showed dual channel mode or not...

Right, it wouldn't be possible to have dual channel with a single stick. You should use cpu-z under the memory tab to see what it says.
