I'm on a limited budget. Can purchase 640m for $759 with Core Duo T2050 1.60/533 and Home XP or 1450 with Core Duo 2 T5500 1.66/667 and XP Media Center for $839. Everything else is identical. Is it worth the additional 80 bucks?
    Thanks.

The Core 2 Duo is better from a performance perspective. It is also a 64 bit processor, which may be better off in terms of future proofing your investment

It's worth it because of the 64-bit processing ability.

T2050 is trash - pay any amount to upgrade, even if you just upgrade to a 1.667 Core 1 Duo.

Depends on what your needs are. If you just use it for basic needs, then go with the lower price, otherwise if you are a gamer or someone that multitaks with your comp, maybe go with the higher price

Worth it. Even if you're not a gamer. Plus, XP MCE is a lot nicer than XP Home.

    GOD SAKE YES!!

it's a STEAL to be able to upgarde from t2050 to t5500

EDIT: yes, 64 bit compatability, 667mhz, 10-20% performance increase over C1D while having same power consumption are all things that make the extra $80 worth it
