I bought a Dell E1705 on ebay couple days ago, I get home from work today, plug in the ac adapter and power up the laptop and this is what I see:

I then started playing with the display functions/sliders and I fixed the problem. But now I am wondering:

    1) What caused this problem in the first place? Will it happen again?
    2) Is the GPU (7800GO) what caused it?
    3) Should I return the laptop?

I am typing this from the dell I received and the display seems to be working now but I just wanted your opinion on this. Thanks.

EDIT: The laptop screen just got messed up again, it's the same when I got it, it' all pink, has large screen door effect, etc.

Also, one more thing, the left speaker works, but when I go to test the right speaker, the sound come out of the left side of the laptop, where the intake vent it, instead of the right side where the right speaker is. Any idea why??

    1) Probably the GPU.
    2) Yes
    3) Yes

Pretty sure we warned you about the GPU issues in your last thread. I bet the previous owner already reflowed the card too.

I know! I should have listened! Ok so I don't want to start a new thread...can you please just throw out some gaming laptops, not current ones but maybe ones that are 3-4 years old that cost $200-$400. I just want to do some really light gaming in between studying. I am not sure what the mobile GPU ranking is. What is after the 7950GTX?

My recommendation is always to buy a business notebook with a 3-year warranty. I don't know why you want a 3-4 year old machine; anything current with HD 4000 will have comparable GPU power to a 7950.
