    Hi all,

I am a new laptop user using Inspirion 1420, which was delivered few days ago.

Despite the laptop contained a freshly installed system initially, there were a lot of problems and thus I performed a clean re-installation by just using Vista DVD.

After the windows is completely installed, I installed all necessary drivers including "Matrix Storage Manager - Notebooks".

One of the devices under "IDE/ATPI controller" became "Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller" after rebooting my laptop.

Could anyone please tell me whether the AHCI driver has been successfully installed? If this is not the case, what steps should I need to perform?

    Thanks all!

You need to transfer matrix sorage mgr files to usb flash drive then boot from the vista dvd and install the files from the usb, before the Vista install.

Did a liitle more research on Intels website,it appears you only have to use the F6 method of loading the driver BEFORE OS with XP,using Vista you should be able to utilize the files in windows ,so you should be set.
