    I thought I would check how long the battery hold out on my new studio 15, which I got two days ago. Surprisingly, only roughly about an hour. Is this normal? When I just unplug the power cord, it says 3 hours.. and then the remaining time of the battery dropped quickly inpproportionate to the physical time past. The whole time I was just surfing the internet, IMing and playing music. The battery is 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery.

    Is this normal? Any response will be appreciated.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! :)

    Click on the battery icon bottom right of the screen and click "balanced"

    Hi, thanks for responding.
    I did click and check and it's already "balanced" when that one hour short battery life happened...... :(

    See the review. Battery life should be upwards of 3 hours.

    My Studio 15 gets just under three hours on the battery.

    Use Notebook Hardware Control to check your battery wear level and see how much charge it's holding.

    Is this a refurbished Studio?

    I get around 3h 30' with WiFi on and "normal" browsing.
    Based on my tests:
    - WiFi OFF, small office tasks -> 4h 05'
    - WiFi ON, web browse -> 3h 30'
    - WiFi ON, web browse + winamp (online radio stream) + low volume sound -> 3h 10'

    Based on others comments here on NBR, I think WLed improves batery performance with around (at least) 45 minutes.

    PS.
    And YES, it depends of OS and services running.

    Hmm... ok. Thanks for all your inputs.
    Mine is not refurbished. It's brand new. With online video streaming (as the only thing going on at this moment) and low volume, internet cord plugged in, it barely makes 2 hrs. :( I'm still within 21 days. Should I call and get a replacement... or should I just have them change the battery...? Or should I bother at all....? It's working really well otherwise... I dread that I might get an even more problematic one... I really like this model except.. at times I doubt its stability although nothing really bad has happened... not yet. :S

    BTW to kingraptor, where can I find the Notebook hardware control?

    Again, thanks to all your responses. Happy Thanksgiving and happy shopping!!! :)

    i was just at my gf's parent's house for thanksgiving and brought my laptop with me to avoid as much interaction as possible (plus i don't speak their language) and i was able to squeeze out over 3 hours on a full charge, lowest brightness setting (WLED is really just over powering when it's at full or even half) and surfing.

    press and hold function -- then press either the up or down arrow keys to increase / decrease brightness of your screen.. this should tell you where your brightness is ..

    hope it helps.

    I use it on minimal brightness level + High Performance.
    About 2 hours and 15 minutes....2 hours and half

    I must say - my Studio 1535 is on 2 weeks now, but my battery wear level is 7 % from one week.

    I guess minimal brightness + balanced level will catch about 3 hours....
    I must test it...someday...
