Hi, Have chosen on the dell 1525 because of its long battery life and thought i would ask if now is a good time to buy because of price and hardware.

I will be choosing the best 1525 option(with 3 gis etc) and they have currently taken off £80 which ends on the 30th, also i have a 10% discount voucher and will be buying through quidco.

Is this a good price? will it be likely to fall much next month?
Is there any new hardware or software like processors going to be released within the next 5 months?
Is it worth extending warrant or adding accidental cover?

    Sorry about all the questions.
    Thanks in advance

What is the total price after discounts and what configuration are you getting?

There will likely be a new model released by next july/august.

Accidental coverage is great in case you have an accident with it.

Never be sorry about questions. Thats what we do here! :)

The new platform will cost a bit more when it first comes out. As for bluetooth, get it internal, you will thank me later when you have one less thing plugged into a usb port.

suppose its a case of if you need it now get it now, if im not going to play games and the 1525 is getting 4 hours battery life at the moment is it worth me waiting? Im going to doing stuff like visual basic, html web design, java. And just watching dvds and youtube

1525s are a steal right now!

I got a Intel Core 2 Duo (1.83 Ghz), 3 gigs of memory, 320 gig HD for $685!

    It runs blazingly fast. :)

I use Eclipse for Java and it runs like a dream.

1525 is a steal right now, I ordered mine for £280 and got the following

T2370 (1.73), 2gb, wxga truelife, 120gb 5400rpm, 6 cell, street design + webcam, intel agn, bluetooth and a base warranty.

Fantastic machine for internet and office work, weighs very little and does actually have some gaming capability.

I love my 1525. Got it about 3 weeks ago for the Wife and it's been great. The only complaint I have is that the speakers aren't that good at all, as the volume doesn't go high enough.

Got it pretty much with the same specs as the OP with a smaller harddrive for about 800 USD with Shipping and tax.

I absolutely love mine as well.

There's one thing that seems to be wrong with it. Sometimes the CD drive pops out... is this normal?

Clrntsqueak, I am having that same problem and have been since I purchased my dell inspiron 1525 back in January. I have tried to find a solution to the problem, but have not. If you find one, I would appreciate it if you would post it here.
