Lets find out.
So my m1330 #3 is on in production right now. I've had 2.5 M1330's now and each time something was fixed a new problem was introduced.
So here's what i'm asking. If you believe in a God, pray to it that: ellianth will get a perfect m1330. If you don't believe in any God then wish me luck on getting an m1330.
I'm really bored at work and have nothing better to do (well there's work to do but that doesn't count.)
Vote in the poll if you will pray or not.
When I get my m1330 I'll let you know how things went.
Here's to making a game out of frustrating problems.
(UM.. how do i add a poll? The check box does nothing)
Edit: got the poll working. It's public but no hard feelings.

Hahaha...if this helps I'll also do so, as my replacement is also being built...
-
You left out the option:
-WTF??? Your weird.
So, I'll put one counter on that. -
In the words of Zack de la Rocha: "Fear is your only God"
-
Hmm this isn't working. I'll give cookies to anyone who prays for me (^_^)
-
I think your just fell off the assembly line onto the hard floor!
-
At the rate they're sending me defective units, I'm willing to bet this entire box of cookies, that the guy who dropped it is gonna:
1. Look around to see if anyone saw
2. Pick it up and put it in the box
3. Mail it to me -
I've given up on the M1330 after having one with a bad screen, and teeth along the top, then getting one with wobble, southbridge whine, bulge in keyboard, etc!
Dell collected my original M1330 today, and should be collecting my replacement one some time in the next week!
I'm moving over to the Sony SZ61 WN/C, it costs an extra £600, but at least I dont have to worry about dodgy build quality!
And the Sony is made from Carbon Fibre which just is super strong (weight for weight, carbon fibre is 10x stronger than steel!!), and super light (only weighs 1.79kg). -
-
What? you have to ask them for stuff? They keep telling me sorry and giving me free upgrades. Which is why i'm able to make light of this situation. Are you calling the XPS Premium support number?
-
And Dell told me it would be collected tomorrow between 9am and 1pm!! But the guy came today at about 10:30am!
From reading your other posts I gather that you are in the US, so I cant really help you there! But didn't you say that your credit card company has reversed the charges back into your account in this thread?
If they have then why try and contact Dell?? If you have your money, then they can come collect their machine if they really want it!
If they dont come after a month, then I guess you have yourself a FREE M1330, so what's the problem??
I'm sure you can use it as a spare if you get it working. If not then just keep it in the loft in case Dell ever do decide to take it back. -
Well, I believe in God. I'm not really the praying type of person, however, but I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I said i would let you people know how things went after I received my M1330. So here are the results...
I got the M1330 last week Thursday. Didn't have time to use it until yesterday. Initial inspection showed an almost perfect system. All the parts on my laptop line up perfectly. If i slide my hand across the sides of the laptop, i feel no gaps or bumps. The screen doesn't have any teeth showing or anything. The laptop does not wobble. The screen quality is beautiful. And so far the system has not made a single peep (whining wise).
The two problems i did find. First one was:
There appeared to be a spot where the paint was chipped on the handle for opening up the laptop screen. I tried rubbing it out with my fingernail but it made it worse. I was kinda sad because so far the laptop was perfect. Then somehow it popped into my head to try and wipe it off with the wet xps cloth. And it cleaned off the white mark. So it wasn't chipped paint, it was something else. I have no idea what it was, because it looked like silvery metal showing underneath chipped paint. So looks-wise the laptop is perfect.
The 2nd problem:
I got another WD (western digital?) hard drive. These ones are VERY loud. Luckily i haven't sent back the samsung drive that came in my very first m1330. I have been swapping it in each system i get. The samsung drive is super quiet, even under extreme load. The WD drive makes access noise all damn day, even if it's not being accessed. Strangest thing ever, lol. Anyway I'm setting up a clean vista install (for some reason all my replacements come with norton antivirus, my first m1330 didn't). Once i have all my programs set up and make an ubuntu partition, I'm gonna make a full copy of my HD and then use it to make the samsung drive just like this one and then swap the hard drives.
Hopefully opening the HD access bay and putting in a new drive won't make whining come back. If it does, I'll let you know.
But the conclusion is: Prayer does work. Thanks for those of you who kept me and my m1330 in your thoughts. As we speak my m1330 and I are being escorted by a team of 12 angels out of m1330 hell.
The End.
I'll post 1 last reply when i swap the hard drives to let you know if the system is still quiet.
Is perfection attainable through prayer?
